How to compare greenhouse wind and snow ratings without false precision

A higher published number is not automatically a stronger greenhouse for your site. First establish what was measured, under which conditions and for which exact model.

Keep the claim attached to its source

The Glory specification graphic uses “Tested to” for its wind and snow figures. Planta’s Compact listing uses “up to” claims and conditions the wind statement on proper installation and secure anchoring. Those are not identical statements. A unit conversion is not an engineering conversion

It is possible to convert a speed into another unit system and still know very little about the rating. A listed wind speed might not state its averaging period, exposure assumptions or test procedure. A snow figure might not establish whether it represents a roof load, a ground load or a particular test arrangement. Converting the units cannot fill those gaps. Keep missing conditions visible.

Do not convert snow depth into a universal load

A depth phrase in marketing copy is not interchangeable with a documented load value. Rather than building a snow-depth calculator around hidden assumptions, our comparison retains the numerical load wording that is actually published and asks for the relevant basis. Model, revision and anchoring belong in the same record

An installation statement for a related size or older generation is not automatically the right evidence for the product in your cart. Identify the exact configuration first. For the Sungrow Compact Gen III, our initial review also found dimensional statements that do not clearly reconcile. Before selecting a kit for an exposed or snowy site, request the current structural documentation and the installation conditions underlying the claim.
