The specification file

Canopia Glory 8 × 12

The most fully documented glazing-and-load entry in this initial Canopia comparison, but not automatically the best fit. Its taller and wider outside envelope comes with a narrower published doorway than the Balance.

A stronger specification is not a universal recommendation

The 10 mm panel description gives a clearer purchasing specification than a listing that merely says polycarbonate. It still does not tell us the whole-building heating demand. Thermal bridges, seals, ventilation and the actual panel thermal value remain separate inputs. Our heater estimator therefore uses an explicit heat-transfer coefficient rather than turning 10 mm into an invented efficiency score.

Read the conditions alongside the numbers

The manufacturer’s graphic labels the wind and snow values “Tested to.” It does not explain the design standard or the local conditions against which your greenhouse will be assessed. Keep the original wording when discussing this model with a supplier or qualified installer. Secure anchoring is a manufacturer requirement, not an optional improvement.

The practical trade-off with Balance

The Glory’s documented 80 cm doorway is narrower than the Balance’s 114.5 cm opening. Measure the widest object that needs to pass through, including handles and protrusions, rather than assuming the more substantial envelope improves every form of access. Confirm that a proposed location accommodates the complete structure and the working room needed for installation.
