Canopia Glory is a compact rigid-panel greenhouse with a documented steel base, door and tested-load claims; Bootstrap Farmer’s 10×20 DIY Hoop House is a much larger film-covered project that requires locally sourced structural materials. Compare the complete project, not the kit price.

The two kits solve different scale problems

Canopia Glory 8×12 is a rigid 8-by-12-class backyard greenhouse. Bootstrap Farmer’s selected DIY kit is nominally 10 × 20 ft and uses a hoop-house architecture. The larger footprint changes site work, growing layout, covering area and the amount of locally sourced material. Compare them only after deciding which scale you actually need.

Included scope is the biggest cost trap

The Glory record documents a galvanized steel base and anchoring system. The Bootstrap Farmer DIY kit explicitly requires locally purchased lumber and 1⅜-inch top rail. A lower kit price is not a lower completed-project price until those materials, transport, tools and labor are added.

Film and 10 mm polycarbonate are different ownership models

Canopia documents 10 mm twin-wall polycarbonate for the Glory. The Bootstrap Farmer kit uses 6 mil greenhouse film. Mil is one-thousandth of an inch, not millimetres. The materials have different attachment, replacement and thermal-planning implications, so do not compare the thickness numbers directly.

Structural claims are not symmetric

Canopia publishes “Tested to” wind and snow figures for the Glory, with conditions that still require interpretation. The reviewed Bootstrap Farmer kit page does not give a numerical structural load rating in the site record. Do not convert that documentation gap into a claim that one system is universally stronger.
