Greenhouse base frame vs foundation: what is actually included?
Separate four different components
For planning purposes, distinguish the greenhouse frame’s base, the supporting foundation, the connection between them and the floor finish inside. A supplier may include one of these without including the others. The terms in the quotation and exact model manual matter more than a generic “complete kit” label. Ask for an itemized list rather than assuming a photograph represents everything in the box.
A concrete manufacturer example
Canopia describes a galvanized steel base and an anchoring system for the Glory, and states that secure anchoring is required. This is useful documentation, but it does not select a foundation for every site. It does not turn the frame into a finished floor or settle local requirements. Read the exact model documents before interpreting the phrase base included. [Source]
Which dimensions belong in your plan?
There can be a nominal retail size, an overall exterior size and a required base dimension. They should not be treated as interchangeable. First obtain the exact model and revision drawing. Then establish which line in that drawing defines the supporting footprint and which dimensions refer to roof projections or other external features. Our foundation planner accepts a user-supplied base rectangle; it deliberately does not derive one from a marketing name.
Working space is not structural edge distance
The planner adds a separate allowance around the entered rectangle to help visualize assembly and access space. That allowance is not a concrete edge-distance requirement, an anchor layout or a legal setback. Likewise, the calculated diagonal is just the diagonal of the entered rectangle. It does not tell you what installation tolerance, foundation depth or reinforcement is appropriate.
The questions to close before spending
Ask the supplier which supporting surfaces are accepted for the exact kit, which anchors are supplied and what preparation is outside the scope of the sale. Check the site with the local authority and relevant qualified professionals. Keep access, drainage and underground services in the discussion before ground work begins. An unanswered foundation question is a reason to pause the order, not an invitation to invent a generic construction detail.
Turn the guide into a buying decision.
Bring the unanswered questions to the exact-model greenhouse specification database. Each record distinguishes verified source fields from gaps that still need the supplier’s documentation.
