Bloomcabin High Tunnel Greenhouse Review: 6 mm Polycarbonate, 3 m Width & 160 kg/m² Snow Claim
The current U.S. listing defines a modular 3-meter-wide tunnel
Bloomcabin lists the tunnel at approximately 3 m wide and 2.10 m high, with a 4 m base length that can be extended in 2 m sections. That modular approach makes the product easy to compare by floor area, but foundation and access planning should still use the exact ordered length and the current installation drawing.
The frame specification is unusually explicit for this product class
The manufacturer describes zinc-coated steel Omega profiles about 56 mm wide and 1 mm thick, with arches spaced about 1 m apart. Each arch is described as extending roughly 35 cm into the ground. Those are useful purchasing details, but they do not by themselves establish suitability for a particular soil, wind exposure or local structural requirement.
The covering is 6 mm polycarbonate rather than PE greenhouse film
Bloomcabin lists 6 mm polycarbonate with a 10-year warranty on the covering. That places this product in a different ownership category from inexpensive film-covered tunnels: the covering is rigid and the frame/detailing are intended for a more permanent installation. Do not compare “6 mm” polycarbonate directly with “6 mil” PE film—the units and assemblies are fundamentally different.
Keep the snow-load wording attached to the manufacturer
The current product page states a snow-load capacity of up to 160 kg/m², and its U.S. copy also presents approximately 43 lb/ft². We retain that as a manufacturer claim. The page does not, by itself, establish the applicable design standard, maintenance assumptions or local-code acceptance for every site.
Door and ventilation should be ordered as part of the whole layout
The standard configuration is described with one entrance door and two side windows, with an optional automatic-opening sunroof available separately. A long greenhouse can need more deliberate airflow planning than a short one, so the number and placement of openings should be evaluated against the final ordered length, crop load and climate rather than from the base model alone.
Decision rule
Bloomcabin High Tunnel is most compelling when you want a more permanent rigid-polycarbonate tunnel with modular length and published structural details. If the goal is a low-cost seasonal cover, a film tunnel can be far cheaper. If heavy snow or exposed wind is the main reason to buy this model, obtain the current installation and structural documents before treating the headline load number as the final answer.
